WHAT YOU SAY

Yes there is such a thing as "token Asian roles" in Hollywood. Name me one movie besides Chow Yun Fats Hollywood movies where a non martial arts praciting star has a lead role in a movie or TV show?
Asians are usually there for comic relief, heavily accented, mispronouced English words or to say something cute.
Hollywood still stereotypes Asian, men and women,
the women are almost never paired with Asian men and if they are the Asian man is bad and a white man has to save
her from it. They have the "china doll" role where the cute Asia is "sexually exotic" and just hot for the white man at first sight. You know the "non asian mans willing sex toy"
The asian man has it worse because he is never paired with an Asian girl or non Asian lady, so where does that leave him usually as a sexual deviant having sex with hookers, or being a rapist or just being asexual.
Both men and women are usually cast as the overachieving nerd.
So, dont tell me that Hollywood doesnt have a prejudiced attitude towards Asians.
By the way, did u mean they are too many Asian girls to name or just too many on TV. Again my point which of them is the star in a Hollywood film or Sitcom? Cant name one?
"Didnt think so."
Mira Sorvino Replacement Killers..
Shame on you Eric.

You stupid a-s-s! I have nothing against Asian ppl. I just came in here as a Zack Ward protector. I think if you should get pissed off at anyone it's the writers. Zack isn't the one writing the scripts. He just says his lines in front of the camera and gets his money. I think all of you are looking to far into it. Now if you get offended by what I am saying then don't bother replying cuz I will probably never come back here. I just happened to be passing through on my search for Zack Ward pics. But if you happen to be a fan, let me repeat that, FAN, F-A-N then you can email me if you want.

Props to Kristin Kreuk on Smallville. She landed the role of Lana Lang (don't let the Chinese sounding surname fool you), that wasn't intended to be a Chinese role. They pretty much could have chosen any race to portray the character. Look at Pete Ross. He's not necessarily supposed to be black either. She earned the role on her own.
No, there is no such thing as a "token Asian guy." Asians aren't even that abundant in most parts of the U.S., so there is no need to slap one in a movie just to please them.
As for Asian girls on tv... there are too many to name. Aside from the obvious ones mentioned, there is Madison Michele (VH-1, Chains of Love), Kimora Lee (One World Music Beat), and Liz Cho (ABC World News Now).

Watch ABC News. Not only is it the best network for information, but it is the only one with a prominent Asian Male reporter, John Yang (he covers military and political affairs. Pretty important these days.)
As for Macy Gray, I didn't pay very close attention, but I thought I say an Asian Man in a suit and tie in there too, although I didn't read the caption. Is that what you're talking about, "Angry"?

FINALLY -- some mainstream media coverage on negative Asian American sterotypes!! Check this out fro Reuteurs:
http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/nm/20011224/ re/leisure_asian_stereotype_dc_1.html
The material in this new story isn't news to us of course, but I'm sure it is to many millions of other Americans. It' about time... I wonder if this is a sign of graudal changes to come..?? Let us hope so.
Prayin' for a better future.

I hate Macy Gray cause her singing stinks and she's ugly. Now I have a real reason.

Macy Gray is AWFUL!
In her video "Sexual Revolution" she's showing all these different people doing internet video dating ads. One shows a beautiful, tall, lean Asian woman dancing around, then showing some paper and data at the bottom calling her a TRANSEXUAL! What kind of garbage is that? It's just another play on one stereotype of Asian women--that they have no breasts and are like young boys, as well as a play on effeminate Asian Males.
I think that all Asian Americans need to protest this, not buy any of her records and should write letters of protest to her record label.
