WHAT YOU SAY
[This page is closed to new input. --Ed.]
Here are some basics for you.
Speaking about the chinese language is like speaking about the romance language, i.e. there is not a single language...
Chinese is a family of similar languages, the differences between each one somewhat paralleling those of french and spanish and italian.
In chinese, each syllable was originally one single word.
Ma is horse for instance.
Overtime, many chinese languages lost certain consonants such that the total number of sounds available in chinese was greatly reduced. Thus, many words ended up with same exact sound (including same tone) the only difference between different characters when writing. Such was the confusion, that most chinese words in modern chinese languages consists of two syllables which makes the words distinguishable.
Japanese and Korean do sound similar. These two languages are not related to chinese. They have however inherited a vast number of words from chinese, much like english has from latin and french.
Japanese and korean are hypothesized to be very distantly related...through the finno-ugaritic family which includes turkish languages...
No conclusions are certain yet.
Both japanese and korean do possess multi-syllabic words and do share similar vowels and consonants.
But the grammatical structure is not at all the same.
Oh, and by the way, black women are gorgeous...

A black female..
Korean is unique languge .
yet Japanese and Korean are somewhat similar so for Koreans,I t's pretty easy to learn Japanese language and vice versa.
some linguists insist that Japanese might be an ancient Korean .
but Chinese have totally diffrent linguistic root to Korean.
moreover, Korean shares many similarities with ancient Sanskrit and forgotten Sumerian language..even ancient Germanic language.some German linguist said it is somewhat doubtful that Korean is Altai language..

Hello All,
I saw a movie tonight which received good reviews by critics. It is called "Shiri". Although I found it incredibly violent in places, I was touched by the emotion between the characters, the love of country (displayed by both North and South Coreans), and the desperation felt by some North Corean soldiers to find a way (even if misguided) to improve the lot of their people. So I agree with the critics on this one.
The movie is Corean and was of course filmed in that language. English subtitles are provided. One of the questions I found myself contemplating when I left the theater regarded the sound of the language. I studied both French and Spanish in school but know nothing about Asian languages. To me the Corean dialgue I heard sounded very much like Japanese. I was wondering, are the languages very similar? Is it possible that Corean is based on Japanese and/or Chinese dialects or is it a totally seperate tongue?
As someone who is not well versed in Corean history, I hope my questions do not seem silly. I am curious and thought this forum might be a place to to get answers.
