I mean how many times have we seen a Miss World or Miss Universe pagent where the south african representative is white blonde and blue eyed? Go figure....

EASY, in because the latin culture and the anglo culture are quite different, in the past the spaniards, portuguese, frech, etc etc accepted the fact that the mixing of races is possible and quite frecuent, so they created words for a lot of the possible mixing that could happen, because is quite obvious that a black person is different that a mulato, they may look alike, but they arent the same (black blood is the strongest by far when comes to mixing, it takes a lot to take all the black feautures out).
But in the anglo culture such thing as the mixing of races SPECIALLY WITH BLACKS was considered imposible, so if a person had black blood (mulato) then, the person was 100% BLACK BECAUSE THE MIXING OF WHITE/BLACK WAS NOT SEEING AS A POSSIBLE THING. u get me? i mean they deny so much the idea of the mixing of the races that they consider all people of black heritage a a 100% black person.
I think that the black people from the US is QUITE MORE BLACK than the people from latin america, maybe blacks americans have very little of european blood, i know that some blacks in latinamerica can be more black than the ones of the US, but thats the not the rule. I live in Venezuela, and when i was in LA (first time out of my country aged like 10) i was surprise about how black and different feautures the black people from LA had, here what we call is very different, they maybe be have like the nose wide or the majority just have the hair and the rest is like a mestizo with a tan (Venezuela is a caribean country and the sun is HOT). Nowdays u can see here some blacks that looked just like black americans but they tend to be inmigrants from the islandsof martinica, trinidad, etc etc.

As an important note, hispanics is a terminology used by the American government to distinguish between whites and blacks from latin america and whites and blacks who are "so called" American.
Since this forum is about Asian men and Latina women, I am going to assume that you are an Asian male who has a fixation with the white race. A fixation is not an attractive trait. Lastly, your statement about black hispanics wanting to be white is equally true about asians undergoing eye and nose surgery to appear more caucasian.

I seriously doubt it because many Latinos see African-Americans as Black but when a Latino has the exact same racial mixture, they are somehow White. I guess the world will change and perceptions will change when we change it. As long as you continue to consider people Black who may have equal amounts of European blood as yourself, then many will see you as just Black as well.
But the rest of what you said seems pretty true. It is rather recent that Latinos acknowledged an Indian heritgae. When I was growing up, ALL Latinos claimed White European and that's it. I guess after being questioned so much here in the states and frankly being told, "you're not European" some Latinos started to acknowledge being mixed race.

Well, from what we here in Venezuela think about puertoricans is very different from what the US people think about them, i notice that a long time ago. In the almanaque that i have right here with me says that puerto rico is 80% white and mestizo and 20 % mulato. Well 20% is a very high porcentaje, but still no way the majority of puertoricans are mulatos, in Rep dominicana the majority are mulatos, but thats the only country that i know that is like that. From all the videos and beauties events that i have seen from there show me a very white/mestizo country. But i have been in NYC for like two weeks and notice that there were a lots of blacks puertoticans, so i can understand y u people think that the island is very black. Take in consideration that the poorest people from Puerto Rico tends to be black and they are the ones who go to the US to live the most.
For me still Puerto Rico is a white/mestizo country, never been there but thats the imagine that i have from there. Still there are only 3.800.000 puertoricans, thats no even 1% of the latinoamerican people. ohh look in the fbi fact book, over there u have a lot of information about every latin country including the racial profile!!! so u will be able to know more by a information derivated from your own country!!

who gives a shit what germans or other northern europeans think? are they the ones to determine who is "white?"
people of the european mediterrian(italians, french,spaniards, portugese,greeks,) have had more influence in this world. i for one sure prefer their culture over any cold ridgit northern european culture anytime.
remember for those northern europeankissasses, northern europeans were backward and consider barbaric by the romans. they lived in straw houses while romans built great empires and enslaved them.
i take a vacation in rome or paris anyday over cold boring berlin or stockholm.

Cut the BULLSHIT! Most Puerto ricans are "mulatos. " Maybe like 95%.
there are very few white Hispanics in Puerto rico. Also Southern Brazil is mostly white (Italians, Germans, Portugese..etc)like Sao Paulo. Northern and some parts of central Brazil liek Rio has large black or mulato population.
'Mulatos" are black in US, maybe not in latin America but in the good ole USA they are black or if they choose "multi racial."
