Jing Wong Heads Up Qualcomm's Global Business

Jing Wang recently added Europe and Latin America to his regional responsibilities as Qualcomm’s President of Global business operations.

China-born Wang now manages all of Qualcomm’s international business offices, including those in Latin America, Europe, Japan, Korea, China, India, Southeast Asia, Middle East, and Africa. Wang also serves as the mobile tech giant’s executive vice president and a member of its executive committee.

Wang has been Qualcomm’s Senior Vice President since August 22, 2006, handling strategic and regulatory affairs. He joined Qualcommon in 2001 as a senior vice president and was appointed to head up its China operations on March 5, 2003. Wang played a key role in driving the growth of CDMA in Greater China and South East Asia, including the negotiation of and signing of CDMA2000 and WCDMA IPR licence agreements with all major Chinese telecom vendors. He also led the formulation and implementation of Qualcomm’s overall business strategies across the Asia Pacific region.

Prior to joining the company he served as Head of Asia Practice Group for the international law firm of Reed Smith where Qualcomm was one of his major corporate clients for legal and regulatory issues involved in business transactions in the Asia Pacific region. He was promoted to Chairman of Qualcomm Asia Pacific on August 22, 2006.

Wang earned a bachelor’s degree from Anhui University, an LL.M from the Law Department of the People’s University of China and a second LL.M from the University of Virginia School of Law.

In 2005 Wang was selected as one of the “Ten Most Valuable CEOs” in China by major media in mainland China and Hong Kong. In 2007 the same group honored him for “Sustained Value”.
