Director Wilson Yip, Hong Kong action star Donnie Yen and other members of the cast attended a traditional Chinese ceremony honoring Wing Chun grandmaster Ip Man in his southern hometown Foshan to mark the start of shooting for Ip Man 2, which will take place mostly on a film set in Shanghai. The film is slated for 2010 release.
The original Ip Man was releated in December 2008. It is purportedly an adaptation of the life of Ip Man, a grandmaster of the Wing Chun school of kung fu who became Bruce Lee’s first martial arts teacher. Donnie Yen will play the title role as he did in the original.
