Dominic Ng

Profession: Banking
Birthplace: Hong Kong
Position: President & CEO, EastWest Bank

Dominic Ng is president and CEO of the second biggest Southern California-based full-service commercial bank, with $23 billion in assets and 71 branches. Ng’s leadership transformed East West Bank from a Chinatown bank serving only an ethnic clientele with $1.4 billion in assets when he was named president in 1992. East West has been recognized by U.S. Banker magazine as the 13th most profitable mid-size bank in the U.S. and the second most profitable in the West/Southwest region.

Ng’s success was built on his vision of turning East West’s expertise with the Asian clientele into a resource linked to the fast-growing mainstream market. Today East West has locations in Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai, adding to its ability to serve a mainstream commercial clientele doing business in China.

Before joining EastWest, Ng was president of Seyen Investment, charged with handling the U.S. investment activities of the GT Group, or the Gajah Tunggal Group, a large Indonesian-based conglomerate comprised of over 50 companies of which EastWest is one.

Ng was born in Hong Kong. His parents are from Shanghai. He came to the U.S. to pursue a college education and found his first job at Deloitte & Touche, a Houston-based accounting firm where he was the director in charge of Chinese Business Services. He is currently married to his college sweetheart, and the two of them spend their free time with their one daughter.
