Shanghai Tops Taiwanese Foreign Investments
By wchung | 20 Jun, 2026
Shanghai topped the list of favorite foreign investment sites for Taiwanese investors, according to a China Times report. Tokyo and Singapore comes in second and third.
What investors find attractive is Shanghai’s high cost of living, allowing the kinds of high rentals that can produce high returns on investment. Other attractions for Taipei investors include language and transportation.
The investment interest appears to be reciprocated by mainlanders. Over 20.4 percent of those surveyed by China Trust Real Estate Co. said they know mainlanders who are planning to invest on the island’s real estate market. Four percent said they know some who have already invested.
