Many AA-friendly colleges have been left out only because we're limited to 10 choices. If yours is among them, set us straight.

Also give future generations of bright-eyed bushy-tailed high schoolers and their parents the benefit of your personal experience.

Although I want to attend Berkeley Med school......I disagree with the poll that it's an Asian friendly school. In fact I attended a summer business program last year. There was this black lady (I'm not being racist) who really dislikes/hates Asians. My friend, a student from S Korea, took some bread out of the cafeteria. The black lady ( a cafeteria janitor) just snatched it out of his hands and threw it away. That same b---h also grumbled to me about leaving the dining hall the right way. She insisted that I go out the other door. I then told her that if she touches me...I will press charges against her. Then she backed off. Well,.....that was my horrible experience at Cal.

However, the upside to Cal is that there are plenty of hot Asian-American chics on that campus (not kidding).

Right...it's actually UC-SanFrancisco Med School I went to. But we love to joke that we are Cal students since UC-SanFrancisco is considered to be an extension of Berkeley.....though officially they are both separate campuses.

Okay, if it offended you, I won't say that again....(though we are quite liberal about these things).

I wasn't tryin to be offensive..just trying to get the facts straight. I love berkeley but I wish they had more korean restaurants (a place where they serve AUTHENTIC korean stuff) most of all. The korean place down on telegraph is not very.......well.....not very...you know.........

as a korean american thats attending at cal, I find the off-campus atmosephere unattractive comparing to other schools such as ucla, occidental..and yes even usc! although usc is located at a totally ghetto-licious neighborhood, K town is 5 minutes away from the campus. And if you have been there, K town isn't the old mom and pop ghetto district anymore. although still many korean businesses are still located in east LA, many of them have relocated to the nice west LA- midwilshire district, where it is more safer and secure for anyone who wants to have a kool korean experience. and did you say berkeley is asian friendly? I would rather put it as chinese-friendly. there are billions of chinese business (boba tea shops including) and students here. but comparing to the respectful size of the korean population here ,I'm just saying that there isn't enough stuff we can relate to our korean heritage outside the campus. No wonder koreans are preferring UCLA than berkeley these days.....

Scummydoo:

Gosh, I didn't know that the Korean or K-American population was small at Berkeley. Like I said, I only stop by there occassionally to visit a friend of mine. He is Korean, from Korea.
He seems to like the environment and college town life there.

Well,...you've mentioned that K-Town in LA is only 5 minutes from USC's campus area. Well, during my freshmen year, I didn't have a car, because I am an out of state resident.
So, attending SC was like staying in prison (in other words confined to the campus dorm). Berkeley on the other hand may have homeless people squirming around the campus and Telegraph ave. area.....but let me tell you,....a student doesn't need a car to shop at Andronicos (I forgot how it's spelled), or drive to a decent movie theater. I LOVE the college town lifestyle at Cal.

While I was at USC, the only place I could shop at was 32nd Market ...really ghetto-licious as you've mentioned.
My perspectives changed a bit after my 3rd year as an undergrad (since I shipped my car to Cally). I have been to K-Town....got to do a lot more shopping etc. But still.....I have to admit I like Berkeley.....and even if there's a bunch of Chinese students.....I love the Asian dominated campus of Berkeley. At USC, ....bunch of rich spoiled white children. I guy coming from Hawaii where it's 70% Asian would feel more like at home either at UCLA or Berkeley. Reason why I couldn't go to any UC schools was because the financial aid packages aren't decent for out-of-state students.

Though UCLA is my alma mater's rival (though I really don't care since I did get accepted to that school), I have to admit that their campus is attractive...as well as the eateries.

All in all .....I really dislike Los Angeles. That's why I chose to attend med school in either Northern Cal., New York, Washington State, Texas, or Atlanta. I really dislike the smog and the cold people of LA.....though Atlanta and NYC have cold people. However, NYC people are more social than LA people (really can't describe it). But read the "metropolitan - LA" section and my commentaries.
