The Internet Can’t Get Enough of RayAsianBoy

From a viral clip outside of a 7-Eleven in Japan to millions of followers and the title of Best Reality Streamer, RayAsianBoy is one of the biggest breakout stars in the creator industry.

For some creators, it takes years before getting any kind of recognition, but for Chen-Ruei Hsu who’s better known as RayAsianBoy, all it took was one viral moment. 

In July 2023 right outside of a 7-Eleven in Japan, Kai Cenat, one of Twitch’s most popular streamers was live and what seemed like a small fan interaction turned into a clip that rapidly spread over social media. 

17-year old Ray approached Kai and his infectious personality had viewers begging for more of the duo. Their effortless chemistry brought them together again when Kai flew him to the United States and Ray began to make recurring appearances on Kai’s streams in the Bronx. Ray even brought Kai to his hometown in Taiwan, where even Ray’s parents got some spotlight and instantly became fan favorites. 

Kai’s live streams with Ray were pulling in millions of views and thousands of clips of the duo were circulating across platforms, proving that Ray wasn’t just a side character, but a true personality himself. He began to live stream from his own Twitch account where he shared with the world exactly how he was navigating New York. 

Ray’s momentum only grew as he quickly turned into one of the fastest-growing Asian creators with over 2.5 million followers on Twitch alone. His YouTube channel has over 1.2 million subscribers and a combined 7.1 million followers across Instagram and TikTok. 

At this year’s Streamer Awards, Ray’s popularity did not go unnoticed by the streaming industry as he walked away with the Best Reality Streamer award, officially cementing himself as a top creator in the world of content creation. 

Now 20 years old Ray is achieving milestones that many people spend years chasing and he now has transformed from an overnight sensation to a global streaming force whose journey started just outside of a 7-Eleven.
